Robyn Mattox, Licensed Midwife, Certified Professional Midwife, EMT and Owner
I am a Florida Licensed Midwife. I am also a certified EMT, and spent years as an EMT, volunteering for the Fire Department in the early 90′s. After becoming pregnant with my first baby, I was hooked on pregnancy and birth and I started my career as a doula in 1995. I became a Certified Doula and Childbirth Educator, and began teaching others the nuts and bolts of being a doula while attending mothers and families in labor. My love of birth grew quickly and I became licensed as a midwife. I am honored to have attended hundreds of births and delivered many (600+) of those beautiful babies.
I have been married 24 years to my wonderful husband Bill, and we have 4 children. Bobby is 19, TJ is 15, Chris is 13 and Marisa is 11. Both Chris and Marisa were born at home in the water. My philosophy of midwifery is that birth is normal, natural and should be surrounded by family and friends in a calm and peaceful environment. I strive to create a birth plan that is tailored to your needs as a laboring mom. I can be as hands off or as hands on as you are comfortable with. I am quick to step in should an emergency arise however, and pride myself on you and your baby’s safety. As a home birth mom myself, I have a unique understanding of the intensity and beauty of birth, and the need of a secure, knowledgeable voice to guide the journey.
Becky Erichsen – Midwife
I have finally found my calling. I have been lucky enough to have grown up knowing that childbirth is a natural process. When it was time for me to start my family, midwifery care was an obvious alternative to the hospital. I had two beautiful waterbirths at a birth center in Fort Myers.
I have two daughters, Samantha (9 ) and Megan is 7. Here’s how I described my first birth. My wish is for each woman to feel empowered by her birth. ”I have never felt more alive, more empowered, more like a woman in my entire life than I did during the birth of my first child. The labor was intense. The pushing was long. It was the most amazing feeling when her head was born and I reached down and brought my daughter to my chest. My hands were the first thing that touched her. My voice was the first she heard. My heartbeat was there to reassure her as she made the transition into this world. I was euphoric. I was on cloud nine. I was living a dream.”
Crystal Topel, LM, CPM – Midwife
Crystal is an experienced midwife, who joined the Inspiration Family Birth Center part time. Crystal and Robyn have worked together since 2005, when they were both Midwives at the Labor of Love Birth Center in Tampa. She is married to Andrew and has a 2 year old daughter Miriam – who you will often see in the sling with momma at the center. Miriam was born at home, with Robyn, Becky and her Husband Andrew in attendance.
I have been a midwife for the past 8 years, though I have been helping mom & babies for 13 years. I have delivered babies at home, in a birth center and in a hospital overseas. Ever since I can remember I wanted to be in the health care field. After my first birth observe at 17, I knew there was no turning back. Midwifery was a calling from the Lord! Each birth is a unique celebration of life!! I consider it an honor to be there for families during one of life’s most treasured moments!! I look forward to getting to know you and your family!
